Why I Became A Financial Advisor

Sometimes a career journey is full of twists and turns, and sometimes you just know the right path to take. I fall into the second category. During my college years, I discovered I had a natural inclination toward personal finance, and that, coupled with a desire to deliver sound guidance and peace of mind to those in need of financial help, led me to a fulfilling and enjoyable career in the financial industry.

Starting Out

To get where I wanted to go, I knew I needed a strong foundation of education and experience that I could build on for the rest of my life. As a result, I obtained a bachelor’s degree in finance from Walsh University, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2008 and earning the outstanding student award for the 2008 academic year. Through the years I have continued my education, eventually earning the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®), Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®), and Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) designations.

My Role Today

I joined Cornerstone Capital Advisors in 2010 and now work as a Lead Advisor and Director of Investments, providing research and guidance on investment due diligence and portfolio design. I advise a range of clients, from those early and mid-career in the accumulation stage to pre-retirees and retirees preparing for the distribution stage.

For those in the accumulation stage, I provide custom guidance on the accumulation of resources to achieve financial goals both before and during the golden years of retirement, focusing on tax deferral strategies, after-tax accumulation, risk management, and education planning. For my clients who are ready to retire or already in retirement, I create tailored plans to help them navigate portfolio distributions, cash flow, and taxes.

Regardless of who I’m working with, I seek to develop long-term relationships where I can use my knowledge in investment management, retirement planning, employee stock options, restricted stock, personal income tax, and charitable giving to enhance their financial life and set them on the right path toward their ideal retirement.

Challenges And Triumphs

Even if you love your job, every career has its own set of challenges. As a financial advisor, I know that the market goes through cycles and volatility is expected, but I understand that it’s difficult to keep emotions in check and stay disciplined to a long-term strategy. I strive to educate my clients to help them stay calm when the markets get stormy and remind them that all their hard work of planning is for their future, not for today. But despite the challenges, I wouldn’t want any other career. It’s incredibly fulfilling to build lifelong relationships with my clients, celebrate progress and milestones with them, and see their families grow and change.

I am driven to work hard every day to grow in my career and deliver the highest level of personal financial advice. Every decision I make is based on the fact that I truly care about my clients and their lives and want to help them achieve what is most important to them.

My Goal For You

With the busyness of life, it can be hard to stop and take some time to focus on your finances. My goal is to offer each and every client peace of mind and support in their financial lives so they don’t have to carry the burden alone. If you are ready to take control of your finances and set yourself up for a successful future, call us at (330) 896-6250 or email [email protected] to see how we can help.
